Trip to Leeds City Centre:
Year 3 will look at the human features of Leeds City Centre that are represented by Ordinance Survey symbols. The children will undertake field work in Leeds city centre using maps to navigate their way around the city to identify local landmarks and features using ordnance survey symbols. Children will examine distinctive features of Leeds City Centre and compare these to the features of Barcelona as well as comparing the cities climates, tourists and physical feature such as the River Besos and the River Aire.
Polar Express
In the Autumn 2 term, children in year 3 read the story of ‘The Polar Express’. For our trip, we go on a truly magical adventure to Wensleydale Railway Station who recreate the classic Christmas tale. The visit immerses the children in the sights, sounds and intrigue of the Polar Express. Once the children board the steam train (in their pyjamas of course) the magic truly begins. The dancing waiters serve the children with hot chocolate and the extravagant conductor mesmerises the children with his tales from the North Pole. The children listen to the story told in its entirety and upon arrival at the North Pole each child is given their very own, personalised silver bell from Santa -just like in the story!
