PE intent
At Castleton Primary School, we believe that physical education is an essential part of a child’s educational development, contributing to their social, physical, cognitive, creative and personal development. We aim to provide a balanced program offering a variety of activities to teach the fundamental skills of movement, including gymnastics, dance, swimming and a range of games activities such as dodgeball and football. Through these activities, we want children to experience competition and develop skills such as team work, perseverance and honesty.
We aim to encourage a lifetime love of sport and keeping fit and promote the value of this in supporting mental health and maintaining wellbeing.
Alongside the curriculum, pupils at Castleton have many opportunities to participate in competitions. We hold intra-school competitions for children to practice the skills they have been taught within a particular games unit. We also offer a range of after schools clubs. As part of a cluster of schools, we regularly take part in different sports competitions such as football, netball, tag rugby and athletics.
PE with Mr Groves
It is important we all stay active and healthy during lockdown. Here are some of the P.E. lessons from Castleton's very own Joe Wicks for everyone to join in with. Remember to go at your own speed and enjoy it. Good luck everybody!
